 Preserving Master Craftsmanship Through 120 Documentary Films.

この「精神」や「大和魂」は、言葉だけでは完全には伝わりません。

手の動きや間、呼吸、空気感の中に、自然とにじみ出てくるものだからです。

だからこそ私は、それらを丸ごと残すことができる「映像」という手法を選びました。

This ‘spirit’ or ‘Yamato-damashii’ cannot be fully conveyed through words alone.

This is because it naturally emanates from the movements of the hands, the pauses, the breathing, and the atmosphere.

That is precisely why I chose the medium of ‘film’, which allows me to capture all of this in its entirety.

 "Thank you for bringing such precious things from Japan." 

10年前、香港デパートの売り場で、
私は震えるような感動を覚えました。
ずらりと並んだ新潟・燕三条の鎚起銅器。
決して安くはないその品を前に、
海外の富裕層の方々が息を呑んで立ち尽くし、
惜しみないリスペクトと共に次々と買い求めていったのです。
日本では当たり前だと思われている職人の神業」が、
世界では「魂の救い」のように求められている。
その光景こそが、私が「文化翻訳」の道へ邁進する原点となりました。

Ten years ago, at a department store in Hong Kong,

I was deeply moved. Before a display of Tsubame-Sanjo copperware, international customers stood in awe,

paying respects and purchasing them not just as products, but as "spiritual salvation."

I realized then that the "master craftsmanship" we take for granted in Japan is a global treasure.

This became the starting point of my mission as a "Cultural Translator."
